What I do (and don’t do) with your details.

Who I am

I am Zoë Dew, trading as Falling Forwards Ltd. For the purposes of UK GDPR, I am the ‘controller’ of the personal information you give me through this website.

My website

This privacy policy relates to your use of my website, www.zoedew.com. The site may link out to trusted third-party websites which have their own separate privacy policies. I don't accept responsibility for those.

My collection and use of your personal information

Personal information I might collect includes: your name, address, contact details, date of birth, bank or payment details, feedback, and information about the services you buy from me.

I use this to create your account, verify your identity, provide the service you've bought, customise the website for you, notify you of changes, and improve what I offer.

This website is not intended for use by children and I do not knowingly collect or use personal information relating to children.

Tiny Tastes (my free idea tool)

When you sign up for Tiny Tastes, I collect your first name and email address. They go to Kit, the email service I use, so you can confirm your subscription and, because you've ticked the box, get my emails. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Tiny Tastes then asks you four questions about your business: what you do, what you sell, who you sell to and, if you like, what you already have. It doesn't ask for your name or email address again, and it doesn't connect your answers to your sign-up. Please keep other people's personal details out of your answers.

Your answers are sent to Anthropic, an AI company in the United States, so that an AI model can write your three ideas. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, it doesn't use what I send it to train its models.

I keep your answers and your three ideas for 30 days so you can come back to them on the same device, then they're deleted automatically. Until then they're stored in my database, hosted by Supabase. To remember which ideas are yours, Tiny Tastes puts one small cookie (called tt_report) on your device. It's only used for that. I also keep a scrambled, one-way version of your internet address with your answers for the same 30 days. I use it to stop anyone overusing the tool, and it can't be turned back into your address.

Legal basis for processing

When I use your personal information I am required to have a legal basis for doing so. Depending on the situation, that basis is your consent, a contract between us, a legal obligation, vital interests, a public task, or my legitimate interests.

I will share personal information with law enforcement or other authorities if required by applicable law. I don't sell your personal information or share it with anyone else, except the companies that help me run this website and business and only act on my instructions: for example Kit for email, Anthropic for the AI that writes Tiny Tastes ideas, Supabase and Vercel for storing data and hosting this website, and the payment and scheduling tools I use.

Transfer of your information out of the UK and EEA

Some of the tools I use to run this business (email, payments, scheduling, and the AI, hosting and database services behind Tiny Tastes) may store or process data outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States. Where that happens, I make sure appropriate safeguards are in place.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file which is placed onto your device (e.g. computer, smartphone, or other electronic device) when you use this website. I use cookies to see what's working on the site, the same way most websites do. The Tiny Tastes tool also sets one small cookie, tt_report, so you can reopen your ideas on the same device for 30 days. It's only used for that.

Marketing

I may send you information about products, services, and things I think you'll find useful, by email, where you've consented or where I have a legitimate interest in doing so.

You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing hello@zoedew.com, or using the unsubscribe link included in every email. It may take up to 2 working days for this to take effect.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to fair processing and transparency, to access your personal information, to have mistakes corrected, to have information erased in certain situations, to data portability, to object to direct marketing, to object to automated decision-making, and to otherwise restrict my processing of your data in certain circumstances.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@zoedew.com with proof of your identity and details of what you're asking for.

Keeping your personal information secure

I have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost, or used or accessed in an unauthorised way. I have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data breach, and will notify you and any applicable regulator where I'm legally required to.

How to complain

UK GDPR also gives you the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the UK, that's the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), who can be reached at ico.org.uk/concerns or 0303 123 1113. I'd appreciate the chance to address your concerns before you approach the ICO, so please contact me first.

Changes to this privacy policy

I may change this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
